I've never owned nor used a Mac before, so I am super-duper excited.

INTRODUCTION

It's been years since I've been using a Windows PC because, let's face it, MacBooks are hella expensive. Last year, when my 2018/19 custom-made desktop crashed, I decided to opt for a MacBook Pro. However, after some challenges with my relatively empty wallet, I bought the 13" MacBook Air. Before we get into details, let me give you the specs of the laptop:

  • 512 GB SSD Storage
  • 16 GB RAM
  • 10 Core GPU
  • Starlight colour.

LIGHTWEIGHT & THIN

As someone who has been using HP Pavilion laptops for years, I feel that the 13" MacBook Air is a revelation. It's ridiculously lightweight—like a feather compared to the brick I used to carry around—which is due to the fan-less design. So far, from a day of usage, I haven't encountered any issues with overheating, but if I do, you will be notified in the linked article below, where I will share my 14-day experience of daily usage.

GINORMOUS TRACKPAD

Cracking it open (figuratively, LOL), I'm greeted by a gloriously large trackpad. No more cramped finger gymnastics for me! I've never been a fan of built-in laptop trackpads because they're either too small or positioned too weird or have this non-smooth surface (especially the one on the HP Pavilion g6 series) to work with. This expansive surface is a dream for navigating and feels like a luxurious upgrade because it paid over 1K USD for this machine.

UNLOCKING WITH TOUCH ID

But the real showstopper for me is Touch ID. Having never experienced fingerprint unlock before, I'm chomping at the bit to ditch the password struggle and dive into the world of one-touch login. It almost feels futuristic (let's be honest, Face ID is a lot more futuristic and would be a welcomed feature for MacBooks, but I'm still thankful I can experience what it feels like)—a touch of magic for the workday.

THE GLORIOUS COLOUR: STARLIGHT

Speaking of magic, the Starlight colour is pure elegance. It's the perfect marriage of sleek and sophisticated, and as I mentioned in my Telegram channel, "the main reason I went with the colour is that it shows fewer smudges, unlike the Midnight colour." By the way, I have a Telegram channel where I share weekly wallpapers and essential updates, so if you want to stay up to date with what I am embarking on, feel free to join here.

One more thing: Do you guys smell your new Tech? I was always curious about why tech reviewers take a sniff at their new MacBooks, but now I know why. It's that new MacBook smell—oh man, it's intoxicating! It's that special techie euphoria that only comes with a brand-new gadget from Apple.
